You are warmly invited to join colleagues, friends, and peers at the 2024 QCPPA Conference from Wednesday 1 May to Friday 3 May 2024. It is a delight to welcome you to gather at the beautiful Mantra Mooloolaba Beach Resort to deepen a shared understanding of our mission, explore the many faces of leadership and provide a forum for sharing of best practices. This all inclusive conference qualifies as a renewal leave activity so don’t miss out on this opportunity for some world class professional learning and some well deserved personal well-being time.
The 2024 Conference theme – Mastery of Leadership – is one of the key strands of the newly developed QCPPA Strategic Plan. As principals in Catholic Education schools, we are called to be brave, courageous, hopeful and open-minded leaders so that we can continue to provide the holistic and high-quality outcomes in educational development for students in our schools.
The 2024 QCPPA Conference is an invitation for us to come together and realise our immense capacity for leadership and learning in a collegiate and supportive environment. It allows us to explore the complexities of school leadership in the present moment. It will challenge us to consider the opportunities for the future.
The 2024 speakers and facilitators have been asked to provide you with presentations and workshops which provoke, inspire, and encourage you to ask deep questions about your leadership. The conference opens on Wednesday afternoon for a thought-provoking presentation from former Executive Director and Chief Technology Officer of Lonely Planet, futurist, technology guru and high-performance leader, Guy Balbontin. Join fellow delegates and valued sponsors for a casual Gourmet BBQ and Welcome Reception.
Thursday sees delegates convene for a day of sharing, collegiality, reflection and conversation. We are delighted to bring you Dr Paul Kidson from the Australian Catholic University and Professor Marcia McKenzie from the University of Melbourne as they help us explore aspects of our leadership in schools with topics from AI in education, wellbeing, environment and sustainability, to intergenerational change and the power of community – all critical elements pertaining to the future of education. Leaders will also get to choose from some targeted workshops led by experienced practitioners, Kristen Sharpe (past Principal of Stuartholme School) specially for new leaders and Ross McSwan (School Disputes) for those with tricky community members. And come prepared to put theory into practice with a fun interactive session on Thursday afternoon aimed at honing those high performance team skills.
The day concludes with a wonderful three-course Platinum Conference Dinner concluding around 9.00pm. Make sure to bring your dancing shoes and have some fun! Remember all meals, dinner and activities are part of your package price.
On Friday enjoy a gentler start to the day by taking time to meet with colleagues for some regional or interest group dialogue over breakfast. Then dive into some whole group work as we unpack what it means to be a master of leadership with Shelley Wild before being absolutely inspired by Jacqui Bell, the youngest person ever to run an ultramarathon on seven continents! We conclude the final day of our conference with Lunch and one last chance for reflection and conversation before heading home – refreshed and reinvigorated! Remember, this qualifies as a renewal leave activity and is tremendous value for your ongoing professional learning.
We sincerely hope you take this opportunity to network with your colleagues in a relaxed and safe environment. Swap stories, successes and struggles about your own leadership and your schools. We invite you to support each other as we all embark on the shared mission to work together to be outstanding leaders within a system of excellent schools. We look forward to seeing you in Mooloolaba Beach in May and encourage you to register now and enjoy Early Bird pricing.
